Happy First Day of Summer! In the Northern Hemisphere, it’s the longest day of the year. You can find out what time the sun will rise and set where you live here. Where I live sunrise is at 5:27 A.M. and sunset is at 9:02 P.M. for most of the week. That’s a lot of daylight!
I love changes in the seasons. It’s the perfect time to celebrate. You can find easy and fun ideas for commemorating the occasion here.
We’ve had a cool, rainy spring, and it still doesn’t quite feel like summer around here yet. But I think that will change soon. My husband, who teaches high school, just got done with his school year. So we’ll have more time off together for the next two months. We’re planning lots of gardening, walks, picnics, and hopefully some camping trips and hikes too.
I hope you’re enjoying your first day of summer! Here are some photos of one of my favorite things about summer: the farmer’s market.

Looking at those luminous colors (carrots, flowers), I can literally feel my brain nerve cells firing excitedly! I can almost feel my cerebrum moving – so great to stimulate the nerves, get outside, look at summer colors, eat fresh food, breathe fresh air 🙂

And it all smells so good too. It stimulates all the senses.
